10 New Year’s Resolutions for 2010 Towards a Fantastic Life of Wisdom

New Year's Resolutions 2010

Just came back unscathed from a few days spent at my mum’s place for a Xmas family get-together – now feeling (and looking) rather bloated after eating uncontrollably mum’s scrumptious cooking.

I’m now looking forward to 2010 which is almost upon us, as 2009 becomes a distant memory of perhaps missed opportunities to improve ourselves and our lives.

However, this is not the time to relive past failures of not instigating action towards a wiser life.  The past is a dead thing which has been long since buried.

So we now must look ahead to a new year of great blooming promise, and to make sure we develop the motivation and wisdom so that we can overcome any difficulties whilst improving our minds towards greater happiness, relationships and achievements in our lives. Read more…

Family and Friends are the Best Presents Money Can Never Buy

What's more important than a wrapped present?

What heavenly delights awaits us this Christmas?  A King’s feast?  An abundance of expensive gifts?  A chance to drink as much as what’s contained in a brewery?  A chance to become the Karaoke King, or Queen, by participating in a good old sing-song despite having a voice like a bullfrog?  Or maybe a time for joyful celebration amidst heated arguments over who gets the TV remote?

I say thee nay!  Be wise, my friend and see Christmas for what it really is – which should be spent sharing precious time with friends and family.

Christmas should not be spent just on getting stressed and relinquishing the little money we have on meaningless stuff just to satisfy our guilty conscience. Read more…

Rudyard Kipling

I just came across this inspirational poem by Rudyard Kipling, someone who I haven’t had the pleasure of reading until now.

What a pleasant surprise to discover that Mr Kipling not only made exceedingly good cakes but also imparted wisdom to the rest of us through his beautiful poems…or am I getting confused between two different Kiplings altogether?

Not to worry, I still love what both Kiplings have produced for my mind and stomach. Read more…

The bond of father and son

To those would be parents, here is some wonderful advice on parenting from Stefan Molyneux, as he applies philosophy and some wisdom to help him with bringing up his seven month old daughter.

I am of the same philosophical mindset to parenting as Stefan, and as I have said in the past, the wisdom I am learning from just observing my little boy has proved so far to be of valuable assistance toward my own personal growth.

When you get the time please also read my posts ‘The Wisdom of Becoming a Child Again’ and ‘The Wise Lessons of Fatherhood: Baby J is 1 Year Old Today!’ to understand how much having a child can teach us about ourselves and life in general.

Please now watch and learn from Stefan as he may give you some wise pointers on making the difficulties of parenthood a little easier, as demonstrated by the following quote from his video A Philosopher As Parent, Read more…

Stop Talking About It and Act Now!

December 4th, 2009 Jason Cooper 2 comments

Surely you don’t expect me to tell you how to act upon the many things that you always wanted to do?  Things that you have proudly told yourself and others in the past.

If indeed you are a person of their word, you are then obliged to do just that once those inspirational words have left your mouth.

In any case, better to not have spoken at all and to have just done the thing before doubt and apathy creeps in.

What’s the title of this post?

When there are things you want to do that may contribute towards your own self-improvement in life, just stop talking and thinking about it and do it now! Read more…
