dear jason,
wonderful and very truthful post. durgapuja is a similar festival in bengal, india, i have seen people start buying gifts to be given away on the next durgapuja from the very next month of this durgapuja.
quality time and affection is the greatest gift we can give to our dear ones, and they too ask the same from us.

Hi Jason. I really enjoyed reading this post. Some of it was humorous too. I agree with you though, that Christmas is about connecting with family and friends that you haven’t seen for a long time, more than about the presents that you can buy. Good relationships with the people you have is something that money can’t buy; well, maybe if you have “a lot” of money… haha just kidding. Thanks sharing this article.

Odd how the shopping and the gift-giving have become so all-consuming. It’s as if a demon had cast some sort of evil spell. Perhaps we have to re-learn if we ever knew it that feeling and not possession is what makes life beautiful.

I wholeheartedly agree. I find it so disheartening whenever I see people focused on all the wrong things this time of the year.
