Totally agree with you, my friend.

I guess people just want to live a complicated but difficult life for some reason...unfortunately for most us, common sense is one such possession that we cannot buy.

"Live simply so others may simply live." This old bumper sticker slogan, popular in the 60s, has now fizzled into obscurity. Not because it's trite or shallow, but because nobody follows it. But what a richer, better world it'd be if we did.

Hi Lauren and Fatima,

Thank you both for your insightful and compassionate comments.

We as human being need to feel responsible for how the state of the planet is - if we all felt this responsibility, we would then want to do something about.

So we must learn to change ourselves before changing the world, no matter how utopian that may sound.

Jim Rohn says for things to change we have to change. “People who soar are those who refuse to sit back, sigh and wish things would change. They neither complain of their lot nor passively dream of some distant ship coming in. Rather, they visualize in their minds that they are not quitters; they will not allow life's circumstances to push them down and hold them under.”~TExist

Complain! ...nothing can compare to the recent disaster in Haiti..That in itself is enough for us to show gratitude and remove ignorance like you have mentioned .....

I definitely complain more than I should, but at the same time, I feel that I do take the time to appreciate what I have, especially in comparison to people in poor, tumultuous countries.

Thanks for the reminder to be appreciative.
