Hi bro,

Thanks for your comment, and I too am glad that I'm not the only hip-hop junkie who appreciates the knowledge and wisdom we can learn from this most misunderstood of arts.

Why not check out my first post in the series detailing the misconceptions of true hip-hop - which has no relation to the negative modern day phenomenon Gangsta Rap, read here:

Jason,

Peace! I appreciate you posting something like this. I try to incorporate positive hip-hop music into my posts, lifestyle and such. Why? Cause, like you, I was affected by the consciousness as a youth. It's good to see someone else pushing the positive aspects of the culture.

Take care!

Hi Andrea, and thank you for your comment.

I do agree with your sentiments on organised religion as I feel one can only find truth and live a righteous life for oneself, and not through any dogmatic beliefs. I myself do not belong to any religious group although I am in no way intolerant to people who may do.

However, my observations of religion throughout history tends to suggest that it is a divisive entity, and mostly used as a tool to control and deceive the minds of the masses - not to mention it being rather violent, which is nothing but hypocrisy on their part.

I try to be a man of peace and to treat people as human beings only. Nothing wrong with living religiously but as far as any organised group dictating to me on how I ought to live - they can keep it to themselves!

I do not want to get too much into the virtues or vices of religion, but all I will say is each to their own - as for me, I will continue to depend on myself to walk the liberated path towards truth, self-knowledge and wisdom.

I agree that we must seek the truth no matter what. That's definitely not easy to do, and it's caused me a lot of difficulties with my Catholic family. The Catholic church is nothing more than a large cult, and I can't agree with their man-made traditions and traditions that go against the scriptures. I wouldn't classify myself as any specific religion. The more I read, the more confused I get. Much of what we read in the bible today was either included or left out for polical reasons, and are we supposed to base our lives on the translation of strangers? I used to think I had it all figured out, and now I don't think I have any of it figured out at all!
