Practice & Apply the Wise Old Art of Alchemy From Within

June 27th, 2011 2 comments

The following describes the ancient art of ‘Alchemy’ (from which the word “chemistry” was derived):

Alchemy is an ancient tradition, the primary objective of which was the creation of the mythical “philosopher’s stone,” which was said to be capable of turning base metals into gold or silver, and also act as an elixir of life that would confer youth and immortality upon its user. As practiced historically, alchemy can be viewed as a protoscience, a precursor to modern chemistry, having provided procedures, equipment, and terminology that are still in use. However, alchemy also included various non-scientific mythological, religious, and spiritual concepts, theories and practices.

History

You may well ask yourself, “How does the practice of alchemy relate to oneself?”

Well, before I try to answer that question, many alchemists have attempted and failed to achieve this so-called “philosopher’s stone”, whilst some have claimed to have discovered this elusive magical solution.

But in most cases, these stories (or myths) have been mostly put down to con artists who dabbled in the occult and alchemy so to get rich off gullible Kings who in turn thought that they would become even wealthier than they already were.

However, whatever the truth may have been regarding the history (or legend) of the alchemist’s ambition of transmuting lead into gold, there lies a more than allegorical meaning that we can apply to ourselves in terms of developing our own spiritual, mental and physical lives.

The Wisdom of Hip-Hop: Vinnie Paz – ‘End Of Days’

“Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself. This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill, the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. Remember: all I’m offering is the truth. Nothing more.”

Thought-Provoking Documentaries: Zeitgeist: Moving Forward

February 23rd, 2011 2 comments

Zeitgeist: Moving Forward [2011] by director Peter Joseph is a 162 minute film work which continues what the prior two films of the Zeitgeist Film Series started: a critical look at the “Zeitgeist” or ‘Spirit /Awareness of the Time’. A prominent underlying thesis of the Film Series is that a great many notions, beliefs and practices currently engaged in today and assumed as “presupposed”, “given” or seemingly empirical to our societal approaches and values are not only intellectually/historically incorrect but highly detrimental to our personal and social progress and sustainability.

Zeitgeist: Moving Forward focuses on the very fabric of the social order: Monetary-Market Economics. While the majority of the world today have slowly come to see some basic flaws in the economic system we share, as large scale debt defaults, inflation, industrial pollution, resource depletion, rising cancer rates and other signposts emerge to bring the concern into the realm of “public health” overall, very few however consider the economic paradigm as a whole as the source. The tendency is to demand reform in one area or another, avoiding the possibility that perhaps the entire system is intrinsically flawed at the foundational level. ZMF presents the case that it is, indeed, the very foundational mechanics of this system that generates the patterns of behavior and unsustainable methods of conduct that are leading to the vast spectrum of detrimental consequences both personal, social, and environmental and the longer they go on, the worse things will become.

Be Humble With Wisdom In The Short Life You’ve been Given

September 8th, 2010 4 comments

Just a contemplation I had on the bus this morning whilst observing people going about their business;

Humble yourself with this sobering thought…

No matter how rich.

No matter how famous.

No matter how much you may possess.

No matter what high position or status you may hold.

No matter what grandiose titles of self-importance has been bestowed upon you.

No matter how much you may think you know.

Just remember, in hundred years or so from now, that those you now see about you, and in fact every human being presently alive on this planet, will be no more.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

Only to be replaced by the next generation of myriad creatures.  And so the cycle of life continues.

So where are all your pretentiousness, knowledge, fame, money and possessions now?  They certainly won’t be where you will be going after the Grim Reaper comes calling.

And remember, Death does not discriminate.

But alas!  Have no fear, for this is a law of nature that must be obeyed.  Neither good nor evil in that.

Did you not know, my friend, that to philosophise is to learn how to die?  This means to let go of all superficial attachments daily.

All I say is to take time out to be aware of every living thing walking about you, and to remember that a hundred years, and especially us, are nothing compared to the infinite vastness of universal existence.

As what existed before us, and which will continue to exist long after our final breath, this universe of consciousness will always remain indifferent to our futile and ambitious attempts to make immortal our very egos.

So do not become attached to life, but treat it as precious.

This thought alone should humble you towards living, no matter how short, a life of simplicity, joy and wisdom.

I will now leave you with a couple of quotes from Marcus Aurelius which exudes truth and sums up this post beautifully:

“Time is a sort of river of passing events, and strong as its current; no sooner is a thing brought to sight than it is swept by and another takes its place, and this too will be swept away.”

“You will give yourself peace of mind if you perform every act of your life as if it were your last.”

Liberate Your Mind with the Empowering Wisdom of Hip-Hop – Part 2

April 23rd, 2010 6 comments

This particular post is dedicated to my good friend, Mr Blobby, who is a fellow Truth-Seeker.

We are both on a Mission Impossible to avoid being distracted by the very tools of propaganda wielded by those in power, and to relieve our conditioned minds so that it has the freedom to perceive the truth which has been conveniently obscured from our view up to now.

So why don’t you join us?

Your mission should you choose to accept it, is to:

  • turn off the TV and radio
  • dispose of the newspapers
  • question everything you have been told and taught to be true
  • inquire for yourself to discern what the truth may be – in other words, educate yourselves
  • Seek and gain the practical and beneficial knowledge that can actually help you to become conscious beings, self-reliant, self-determined, pragmatic and wise
  • Look within yourselves for the true answers towards achieving your aims in life – the truth and wisdom is within you to use to your advantage
  • Take responsibility for your own health, income, and general well-being

This illusory existence that has been conditioned into all our minds must be dealt with by us making an effort to destroy these false images which are destroying us – so emancipate yourselves and see what is.

Once we can see, there then maybe a realistic possibility that we can make this world a paradise that it’s capable of becoming – and that’s no frivolous statement that I’m making here…it can be done…it will be done.

This message will self-destruct in five seconds…

Use ‘The Secret’ Wisdom of the Power of Thought to Attract your Heart’s Desire

April 9th, 2010 3 comments

Here is what the Wikipedia synopsis of The Secret reveals,

‘The Secret, described as a self-help film, uses a documentary format to present the Law of Attraction. As described in the film, the “Law of Attraction” principle posits that feelings and thoughts can attract events, from the workings of the cosmos to interactions among individuals in their physical, emotional, and professional affairs. The film also suggests that there has been a strong tendency by those in positions of power to keep this central principle hidden from the public.’
