
I just came across this inspirational poem by Rudyard Kipling, someone who I haven’t had the pleasure of reading until now.
What a pleasant surprise to discover that Mr Kipling not only made exceedingly good cakes but also imparted wisdom to the rest of us through his beautiful poems…or am I getting confused between two different Kiplings altogether?

Surely you don’t expect me to tell you how to act upon the many things that you always wanted to do? Things that you have proudly told yourself and others in the past.
If indeed you are a person of their word, you are then obliged to do just that once those inspirational words have left your mouth.
In any case, better to not have spoken at all and to have just done the thing before doubt and apathy creeps in.

The following quote has been an inspiration for me to embrace philosophy as guidance for my own self-improvement in life. It has also influenced me to reflect on my own life with sincerity and frankness, whilst exploring deep down into my mind trying to find any sort of wisdom that I can learn from.
Being both resonant and moving, Bertrand Russell’s self-reflection of his life and insightful words has given me renewed optimism in the human spirit despite the ignorance scattered amongst humanity.
I can only hope that the next generation can put reason at the forefront of every world problem and be as wise as was old Bertrand.

It is natural to be lazy – something that most of us can attest to. Once we are set free from the womb we immediately wish to submerge ourselves in sleep.
Upon reaching adulthood we long to be totally at leisure, as it brings with it pleasure, because we are completely free from responsibility. This freedom relieves stress and brings us back to our childhood of joyful play.
If we could choose, we would bite off the hand of procrastination whenever we get the chance because we seem to think that being lazy at the best of times brings with it impunity.
Not to say that being lazy is an evil, but we must keep careful watch. Careful because we must continually remind ourselves that life is short and that we’ll only be punishing ourselves if we allow our lives to slip from our grasp when we had the chance to live it to the full. Believe me, you’ll have plenty of time to sleep once you’re six feet deep.
