Falling in love is a tricky business, especially when trying to find the ideal partner to share your life with. The major challenge for any single person is acquiring the “right mate”. So the first question you must ask yourself is, what qualities do you look for in a mate? Here are just a few that came off the top of my head:
Committed
Compatible
Trustworthy
Faithful
Generous
Honest
Truthful
So in the case of “Ancient Philosophy” making you fall in love, the word “Virtue” comes to mind when describing the above qualities. For many philosophers of centuries past, “Virtue” was equivalent with “Truth”, and without “Truth” there can be no “Virtue”. So for one to become virtuous one must first have a love affair with truth.
Do you park yourself in front of the TV for hours on end when feeling bored?
Do you get withdrawal symptoms if you dare to miss an episode of Pop Idol or your favourite soap?
Do you watch TV even when on an exotic holiday in the Caribbean?
If you can answer yes to any of the above questions then it’s time for you to turn off the TV, stop being entertained (euphemism for being ‘distracted’) and seriously think about what constructive things you could do with your time.
I’m sure we’ve all been guilty of watching the odd soap and sports programs (which indeed program the brain into becoming lazy and addicted) to fill in the time, so why not get off the bad diet of junk TV and instead nourish the mind with the healthy food of self-knowledge.
A humble blog compiled with philosophical advice, wisdom resources and enlightening knowledge providing thought-provoking posts which will help free your mind and improve your life for the better.
