The Japan Disaster Proves That We Are Nothing But Straw Dogs

March 13th, 2011 2 comments

With the current overload of media coverage on the earthquake/tsunami disaster in Japan, have we not forgotten that we are at the very whim of nature’s changing mood?

What is happening in Japan with the tragic loss of life, possessions and obvious suffering is most sad, but we must keep it all in perspective.

We must try to remain rational and not be too grief stricken as I implore you to look at the bigger picture of life and events on this vulnerable planet.

What can we do as human beings regarding nature’s necessary act of cleansing it’s body (Earth) from time to time?

Can Humanity Be Successful in Solving The Nature Crisis?

October 29th, 2010 2 comments

Here is a promising update of the post Will ‘Ten Years’ Be Enough To Solve Nature Crisis?.

Read the following news article (excerpt):

UN talks on a new deal aimed at protecting nature and equitably sharing in its benefits seem to be on course for a positive conclusion.

The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) meeting saw intense diplomacy in its final hours as delegates tried to iron out remaining differences.

The Japanese hosts in particular have been desperate for a successful end.

Western nations appear to have given ground on the thorniest issue – sharing of natural genetic resources.

It is not yet clear how – or even if – resolution has been reached on other outstanding points, such as how much of the Earth’s lands and oceans should be placed under protection.

China has been criticised by environment campaigners for insisting that the agreement in Nagoya should call for protection of no more than 6% of the marine environment – and none at all outside coastal waters.

The current global target is 10%.

The other outstanding issue has been money, with Brazil and its allies arguing that by 2020, $200bn (£125bn) per year should be made available for biodiversity conservation.

BBC News understands that a deal has been reached under which countries will agree to have such a plan in place by 2012, when Brazil will host the second Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro.

Will ‘Ten Years’ Be Enough To Solve Nature Crisis?

Will Man continue to destroy nature, which in turn will end up destroying him?

There maybe some hope for the human race after all, as someone is at last aware of the huge problem of the continued erosion of nature and wildlife – something which is mostly down to the hands of Man.

Not to mention the current worship of technology which only serves to encourage neglect and ignorance of this most important life providing source.

Hopefully, Man can find a viable solution to reverse the effects he has had on the environment before it is too late.

And maybe he will find a wise solution…read the following excerpt from a BBC news article written today:

Liberate Your Mind with the Empowering Wisdom of Hip-Hop – Part 4

Arise my fellow humans and stand up for nature, humanity and self-knowledge!

Mr. Lif drops some wisdom in the following thought-provoking tune, as he advises humanity to reconnect with nature and our spiritual selves, and to turn away from divisive and destructive man-made machinations.

I have to agree with Lif  in regard the ubiquity and popularity of today’s technology (iPad anyone?), which has inexplicably all but disconnected our consciousness from nature and one another – as I have previously written about in the post Living Consciously in a Technological World.

We have also become ever more dependent on this technology to help us live our lives instead of relying on ourselves, which is setting a dangerous precedence, especially regarding us ever achieving the most important goal – and that is, self-knowledge.

Most worryingly, Man’s ignorant capability of being able to destroy this planet with his mechanical toys because of war is becoming increasingly possible in this present climate of uncertainty.

Unfortunately, the evidence of all this is plain to see within myself, as I sit here alone at an inanimate object typing this blog, instead of being outside with the people that I love whilst basking in the sunshine and absorbing all the wonders that nature has to offer.

Living Consciously in a Technological World

September 28th, 2009 8 comments

Consciousness of NatureLiving consciously is, perhaps, nigh on impossible in today’s digital age.  It’s hard not to notice that technology has advanced tremendously in the past 100 years or so.

Since entering into the 21st century almost a decade ago, the age of communication has risen phenomenally and has, at the same time, made the planet a smaller place in terms of networking with other human beings in every part of the globe.

What troubles me is that most of us have become all so dependent on technology for everyday tasks (well, I’m typing this blog on a computer, aren’t I), as well as allowing it to affect our emotional state detrimentally if it dares go wrong – as I have witnessed many a time happen to staff members at my workplace.

The thing I’ve observed is that we have allowed our own consciousness to be superceded by this technology, something that in the long run, I feel, will do us more harm than good.
